Look at the picture that greeted me on my start up page this morning.
I just had to check and find out what it meant and it turned out that King Tut's tomb was discovered in this day in 1922. The nineteen year old Tut's mummy went on display in his underground tomb on November 4, 2007, 85 years to the day after he was discovered. Today, an exact replica of the tomb has been built, recreating every tiny detail. Moisture from the breath
of visitors to the original has damaged the murals and walls, while temperature
fluctuations have caused paint to flake off and cracks to expand. Both tombs are still open to visit, but the plan is eventually to close the
original to allow for conservation work.
So, it appears that soon, Tutankhamen, whose remains are still there protected by a glass case, will get some peace and quiet.
Now there's a real life Halloween mummy!! |
