I'd love to hear from you.
Every now and then I have some cards or little treats available for sale that may be seen here.
My blog also contains my personal posts. Ignore them if you like, but you may get a kick out of them. Maybe my girls will read them one day and get insights into the inner workings of an old woman's brain....Scary Thought!
There is a list of labels on the right side of the blog, so you can click there to go to only the posts that you are interested in. That will allow you to skip the personal posts and any items for sale if you wish. No matter which way you choose, I hope will enjoy my little blog and visit often.

Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie

Today I've decided to post a bit of history.
On this day in 1946 the bikini hit the world scene designed by Frenchman Louis Reard. He was a car mechanic in the 1940s but also spent time looking after his mother's lingere boutiqe in Paris. It was there that he designed the bikini which was unveiled on this day.

Réard thought women should be more daring. A spirit of “doing your own thing” was taking hold across Europe after the chains of war had been broken and people were beginning to enjoy a new taste of freedom.

There was a drive by clothing manufacturers and designers to produce new ranges that would reflect the free-spirited mood of the times.

Reards bathing costume used no more than 30 inches of fabric, the bottom half made from two triangles of cloth held together with string and the top half no more than a skimpy bra.

He thought the design would be “highly explosive." American atomic bomb tests had started to take place off the Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean, so he cheekily called his swimwear “the bikini”.

Finding a model prepared to appear in public wearing his scandalously skimpy creation proved to be quite a challenge. He finally recruited 19-year-old exotic dancer Micheline Bernardini who had no qualms at all about parading semi-naked for all to see.
Here she is holding the box in which it could be packaged.

He expected big headlines after the launch at a Paris swimming pool, so he designed a bikini for Micheline that was printed appropriately with newspaper type.

Another French designer produced a competing swimsuit. He called it the “atom” and described it as “the world’s smallest bathing suit.” Réard’s creation was considerably smaller so he advertised it as “smaller than the world’s smallest bathing suit.”

Shockingly it was the first time that a
wearer’s navel had been exposed. In his advertisements he declared that a two-piece suit wasn’t a genuine bikini “unless it could be pulled through a wedding ring.”

There was a lot of initial resistance. It was banned on beaches in Spain and Italy for a time and was considered unacceptable in the United States. But more and more women wanted one and they appeared in increasing numbers on Europe’s beaches as each summer passed.

A breakthrough came in 1958 when Brigitte Bardot, the so-called “sex kitten” of the age, exploded onto cinema screens flaunting a bikini in her film, And God Created Woman.

In the US, barriers were broken in 1960 when pop star Bryan Hyland scored a major worldwide hit with a number which sang of a girl dressed only in an “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini.”

And the rest my friends is history.

By the way, in the 60s and 70s in Southern California I often sported a "bikini" but I never wore one even close to this tiny.

Creativity versus Germs Battle

I was doing a bit of blog surfing today and came across a hop entitled
"Spread Joy not Germs"
Isn't that the cutest thing ladies?
That's what we do with our cards. It brings us such joy to make them (For me it's been the salvation of my sanity) but then it spreads further joy when we send them out. Especially during this time.
It's so important to keep in contact with those in our lives right now. We have become so isolated and it would mean a lot to anyone to receive a card in the mail. Especially a hand made one. It's an awesome way to bring a smile to someone who may otherwise have not had such a smiley day. I encourage you all to send out a few.
Use your creativity and spread joy instead of germs.

Snail Mail

On this day in 1900 the post office issued its first book of stamps.
I think that a perfect way for crafty ladies to celebrate is to use one of today's stamps to send a card out to someone. This is such a challenging time for so many of us and a handmade card showing up in a mailbox is sure to brighten anyone's day.

By the way, I sent out a other of my oh so fabulous videos today offering another kit for you to play with. So hop on over, take a look, and add a complement to enter for a prize.

One Ringy Dingy

Bit of info....

Today in 1877 the first telephone was installed in 1877.
In those days (my old days) we were tethered to a wall to reach each other on the phone. Our numbers had a word in front of them like Walnut or Topaz, two of mine at the time. There were operators and party lines. Sometimes you'd pick up the phone and someone was already on it and you'd have to waIt until they were finished to make your call.
What in the world would we do without them today. They are a huge part of our lives, we depend on them and are rarely without them right at hand . They are our telephones, our calendars and planners, our computers and so much more.
During this time of isolation my phone is my link to the outside world.  I need to get messages out  and sometimes I just need to hear and converse with a friendly voice. As I matter of fact, I'm writing this post on mine right now.
Be safe everyone and grab that phone of yours and let someone out there know you're thinking about them.

Project 365 Day 365 The End At Last

Hello Girls---Well, I have finally reached the end of my Project 365. Yes, I know I failed miserably, but I'm not hanging my head. I am choosing to look at the 258 posts I DID make through the year instead of the ones I didn't make. That's a lot of posts!

I spent the weekend scrapping with friends. I began by working on finishing up my upcoming Birthday Class, but then switched gears and allowed myself to work on my own pages. It was so much fun, and I got so much done! Yes, I know I should have been taking care of the "should do's", but it felt so good to work on my own pages! I think I needed it to fuel up my creative engine.

Anyway, today I put all the pages that I completed where they were supposed to be. I soon discovered that, except for a few finishing touches, I was close to having my album on Matilda's first year completed. So.....I allowed myself another day of working on my own things. I added a title here and some journaling there, and the album is DONE! It must be time for another grandbaby!

I began Project 365 to follow my last year in my 50's---That's right, tomorrow I turn 60. While I may not have done my Project 365 perfectly, I am thrilled to finish of the last day of my 50's by completing this very important album. No one really looks at my albums except me, so those of you who take classes from me may have to bear with me. I'm so excited about having it finished, that I am going to bring it with me to the next few classes. I just want to share it with someone!

Now...About this whole Project 365 thing. I may give it a try again sometime---but not this next year. I have something different and fun to do on my blog this year. You'll have to read the blog tomorrow to find out what it is. I'm going to try and do better with this idea.

Cross your fingers for me!

Project 365 Day 331 Birthday Class

I finally finished the second double page layout for the Birthday Class I plan on teaching very soon. This is the second double page layout to be completed in that class. I included a picture of the first in an earlier post. The class will include both layouts and at least one card. As soon as I decide how much more I'm going to include in the class I will be announcing it. Sometime very son----Keep watching!

Project 365 Day 327

Hello All---I've been absent again for a bit. Life happens--What can I say? Anyway, I finished this cute little layout today. It is going to be part of an upcoming class for Easter. In class we will be making this layout, a little fan-fold album, and a card. I will be announcing it soon.

Project 365 Day 323 Happy St. Pat's

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to everyone! My friend Tracey's favorite holiday is Saint Patrick's Day. I had pulled a picture of a topiary like this from a magazine a while back. I came across it and decided to make one for her. It turned out pretty cute and she really liked it. Perfect for her table when she serves that corned beef and cabbage!

Project 365 Day 318

Today, after dealing with a flat tire, I spent the day scrapping with friends at the Safe and Sober Crop which was held at The Grand Sierra. It was a wonderful event and I had a great time. It was just what I needed. I LOVE scrapping. I have the most incredible group of friends and I LOVE spending time with them. I spent most of the day working on my upcoming calendar class so for today I'll share a sneak peek of the cute little frog we will be making. Isn't he so cute! I like him so much that I think he needs a name. Here's a little contest for those of you who actually read this silly blog of mine. Post a comment here or shoot me an email with your name idea for my little guy. On Wednesday when I teach the class, I will announce the name I have chosen for him and that lucky person will win a little prize. May the LUCK of the IRISH be with you!

Project 365 Day 317

Today was a big day for my little family. My son-in-law Mike (or as he will always be to me---Mikey) graduated from the police academy today. It was a very proud moment, but bittersweet for me since it brings the time closer still to the day that he and my baby girl will be moving away from me to Las Vegas to begin his job. I truly don't know how I will bear it. Be prepared all of you---I am REALLY going to need my friends! The first pic is of me and my kidlets at the graduation ceremony. I've also included a picture of his badge, and the last is of me and my sweet girl at Bully's for the party afterward. (They have some flatbread pizzas there that were YUM-YUM. I definitely want to have that agin!)

Project 365 Day 316

Today's picture is of my little pink bag from Victoria's Secret. Megan and I went shopping last night and we both had to break down and buy ourselves new bras since ours were in poor shape. I am shocked these days by what we ladies have to pay for a good bra! The prices are obscene! Especially for someone like me whose entire wardrobe comes from thrift stores. So, while this little pink bag is very cute, I sure don't like what I had to shell out to get it. Let's all tell them that that can put our purchase in a plain old brown paper bag if it will help bring these prices down. Hey! I'll even bring my own!

Project 365 Day 315

Went to Tahoe today with Tracey to help clean the cabin where I got this picture of an icicle so big it formed a whole column with a huge thing that looked like waves on the ocean at the bottom. Last time we went there were incredible icicles on the house. Should have shown you a picture then. Much of the snow and ice have melted.
Tonight I'm off to the movies with my Megan. Have totally forgotten what we're going to see, but I don't care. I'm just looking forward to spending a bit of time with her. IT'S BEEN AGES!!

Good Morning! Time for waffles---Yum!

Project 365 Day 313

I had Matilda over for the night as I do most Mondays now and Cheryl came over with her grand daughter Taylor. I should have had my thinking cap on and taken a picture of the two of them playing, but I didn't remember until after Taylor's mom had come to pick her up for swim lessons. Matilda was tired from her busy day and fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow. Peek-A-Boo decided to join her, so I chose that to be my picture for the day.

Project 365 Day 312

I didn't take a picture today----Doggone It! I was doing so well! Oh well, I went to church. Imagine me there.

Project 365 Day 311

Today was the scrapbook yard sale at my friend Megan's house. Here is Miss Vicki trying to escape without getting her picture taken. It went well. I made a few bucks, Megan met her goal and many of you got some great bargains. Wonderful!

Project 365 Day 310

Got a wild hair today and tore my house apart. I moved furniture around, cleaned and gathered more stuff to sell at the yard sale tomorrow. I'm TIRED! Anyway, this is one of the walls I changed. I'm not completely done yet, but I tink I'm going to like what I've done.

Project 365 Day 309

Look at the cute little penguin I made today! I think he's darling Just a peek at him and now he's going into hiding until I bring him back out for classes in December.

Project 365 Day 308

Busy digging through stuff to sell in the yard sale on Saturday so my picture is of part of my big mess.

Project 365 Day 307

Matilda is with me today and we went with Tracey to help clean the cabin. She is quite a good helper. Now we're back home and it's time for cut-n-paste.
