The Chicken Coop

I am a paper crafter. I've been playing with paper, and cutting and pasting for many years now and I still just love it. I teach classes each month and would love to have you.
You can find me at MyRedHen.blogspot.com and on Pinterest
or email me at MyRedHen4@yahoo.com
I'd love to hear from you.
Every now and then I have some cards or little treats available for sale that may be seen here.
My blog also contains my personal posts. Ignore them if you like, but you may get a kick out of them. Maybe my girls will read them one day and get insights into the inner workings of an old woman's brain....Scary Thought!
There is a list of labels on the right side of the blog, so you can click there to go to only the posts that you are interested in. That will allow you to skip the personal posts and any items for sale if you wish. No matter which way you choose, I hope will enjoy my little blog and visit often.

Project 365 Day 158

HOLY SMOKES LADIES!! You are in for a treat if you are coming to the sale tomorrow night and you'll be sorry if you don't! I spent the entire day today along with Vicki and Janice putting stuff out and getting it priced (and some of you know how I price). There's gobs of stuff as you can see by the pictures I've posted and this isn't even all! Some of its not arriving until tomorrow. If any of you still want to get in on the opportunity to sell some of your own things, it's not too late. You would need to deliver it sometime tomorrow, priced to sell with your initials on the tag. You would also need to bring your own table as we have filled up every one we could get our hands on. It's only $10 and I can guarantee that there will be plenty of customers to look at your things. Maybe you'll make enough to be able to purchase a few things! Speaking of that, I need to tell you all to be ready to do some Christmas shopping. Janice dove into her treasures (I'm so proud of her!) and there are lots of bargain priced gifts for everyone on your list. Almost all are brand new items---No one would ever know what a bargain it was. When they thank you profusely, just say "Your so welcome!).

I've also added a couple of pictures of my Make-N-Take station all ready and waiting for you. Be sure to stop by and try out the wonderful Cinch while making a sweet little project. It in itself is a great little gift idea. Janice said she would make a dozen. I'm going to be making some for the bazaar that I am going to be able to do after all thanks to a great friend. I hope you are all as blessed with as many of them as I am, because it just warms your heart. I feel like I've got an army of human guardian angels at my back!

So remember tomorrow, Friday from 5pm till 8pm for the special pre-sale and Saturday from 9am till 3pm for the advertised sale. 2320 Queen Anne Court in Reno. See you there!

Project 365 Day 157

I've been working hard to prepare for this weekend's big scrapbook yard sale. One of the things offered there is a Make-N-Take for only $2.50. I have finished my sample and decided for my picture today to show you a little sneak peek. It's very cute!

Labels

Tonight I finally figured out how to use the labels function of my blog correctly so it is up and running. Many of you may be coming to my blog specifically to look at kits available for sale and don't want to wade through all of my Project 365 posts to be able to see them. With my labels function up and running, you can now do that. On the right side of the screen you will see a box with a list of my labels. At this point those labels are: Classes, Kits, Layouts, and Project 365. If you are interested in seeing only the posts that mention my kits, just click on the space marked "kits" and it will take you there----Yeah! I'm learning! The posts labeled classes will tell about classes being offered and the layout label takes you to posts picturing completed layouts for sale. The Project 365 posts are my silly daily posts that many of you may just want to breeze past. There will be more labels as I go along. Gifts, and Retail will be a few, but I'll tell you about those when I get there. Bear with me as I muddle through learning this computer stuff. The next thing I will be taking on is designing my website and getting it up and running----OH MY GOODNESS! That should be interesting! So far I only have my website address. Soon you will be able to find me and my kits at www.notime2scrap.com.

Project 365 Day 156

My little sweetie Matilda spent the day with me today and is sleeping on my couch like an angel right this very minute. When she comes over, the very first thing we always must do is fill the bird feeder. It is ALWAYS empty when she gets here and she ALWAYS notices and feels it's her responsibility to take care of it. She likes to make the birds happy. Here is a picture of her lugging the newly filled bird feeder over to where we hang it. She's saying----"CHEESE!!!!"

Project 365 Day 155

Worked on my sample for Saturday's Make-N-Take for the yard sale today. I used my wonderful new Cinch to bind my project---LOVE IT! I was going to take a picture of it for my post today but I already took it over to Janice's, so I took a picture of the box instead. Pretty exciting stuff, huh?

Project 365 Day 154

Cheryl came over to scrap with me for a while today. She had been planning on making a little card for her daughter's anniversary and she got it done today. It turned out really cute! While we were scrapping we watched Letters to Juliet. Sweet movie. The woman in the movie finds her true love from 50 years earlier. They get married and live happily ever after. My first love was when I was 19. We were supposed to get married, but it didn't turn out that way. I would love to know how his life turned out. Do you ever wonder about these things from your past? I googled him and did searches in Facebook, etc but didn't find him. Is he still handsome? Is he married? Does he have children---grand children? Is he happy? Does he ever wonder what happened to me? What are the chances we will reconnect in Italy, rekindle our love, get married and grow old together? Not very likely I know, but it would make a nice movie.

Her is a picture of another one of the cards from this months card class. You like at it while I sit here and dream of lost love.

Project 365 Day 153

Today I went to Scrapper's Paradise for the day to scrapbook. I don't feel like I accomplished much, but it was good to see everyone. Afterward, I went home and scrapped some more. Do you see a theme to my life? My friend Cheryl had borrowed the cards from this month's card class to make hers. She brought them back today so that I could get the pictures taken to send to someone who missed the class so I thought I'd use one of those pics for my picture of the day. What a cute little owl!

Project 365 Day 152

Hello Girls--I spent the better part of today at Janice's pricing things for the yard sale. Let me just say---"Oh my goodness!" Here are a couple of pictures of a small bit of the "stuff" that will be there for sale.

Project 365 Day 151

Here is my dinner! It isn't fancy, but it I accomplished it myself on my barbecue, and it tasted good. Yeah Me! I t looks like a bowl full of potatoes, but there are chunks of chicken in there somewhere.

My other pictures for today are cards that I am offering for sale in a kit. I often have left over "stuff" from my card classes when I'm finished. I usually make these up and then sell the cards. Instead I am now going to put them together in kits and sell them. This kit has the supplies for the three cards shown here ans sells for $9, There are only two available, so let me know if you would like one. The card that has the dad holding the hand of a little girls comes with both a boy and a girls so that you can use whichever is appropriate for you.

Project 365 Day 150

Well girls, I pulled my big girl pants up today and I am barbecuing all by myself for the first time. I got the thing lit without setting myself on fire and now, hopefully, my chicken dinner is out there cooking in this foil packet. We'll see---Will I have a lovely dinner, or will I be snacking on cheese and crackers? I'm going to check on it now and will report to you about how I did tomorrow. Cross your fingers!

Project 365 Day 149

Today I got some much needed help from my sweetie of a friend Tracey and then went to my regular Tuesday night crop. While there I was working on duplicating this page for a friend. It was the layout portion of my September Calendar Class. The balloons were so fun to make and no two were the same.

Project 365 Day 148

I spent most of the day today cleaning, putting things away and beginning a SERIOUS PURGE of my scrapbooking supplies in preparation for Janice's upcoming yard sale. It looks like a tornado struck my house. This picture is of the mess just on my little dining room table.

AND-----As promised, here is the info on the upcoming scrapping yard sale. The sale will be held at Janice's house. Her address is 2320 Queen Anne Court in Reno. There will be a special preview night held on Friday evening October 1st from 5pm till 8pm for only those of you who follow my blog or receive my email notifications. The advertised will be held on Saturday October 2nd from 9am until 3pm. There will plenty of great scrapping bargains available, but we are going to have some special extras.
First we are going to have a Make-N-Take available for only $2.50 to introduce the Cinch to all of you. Janice and I used this machine at Creative Escape and LOVED it. We felt it was much easier to use than the Zutter and it offers features that the Zutter doesn't. The Cinch sells for $99.99, but I will be taking pre-orders at the sale and if you order and prepay for your machine that day you will get your new toy for only $80.
Next, in addition to the yard sale bargains, there will be a boutique area with great gift ideas. I have been making little things all year in preparation for a craft fair I was going to do but the date has turned out to be when I am out of town attending Scrapper's Paradise Camp. Instead of the fair, I'm going to have these things available at the yard sale. All of my handmade greeting cards will be there at bargain prices as well.
Finally, there will be a sneak peek shown at the sale of one of the classes that I will soon be teaching using one of the great ideas I learned at Creative Escape. The first sign ups for the class will be taken at the sale.
If any of you have an over abundance of supplies and would like to sell some of your things, we are opening the sale to you as well. You can bring your treasures and add them to ours for only $10. You can stay and sell or just leave your things with us. All of your items must be clearly marked with the price and your initials to insure that you get credit for your sales. It's probably a good idea to plan on bringing a table along and if you're planning on staying, you should probably bring a chair. If you are interested please contact me directly to reserve a space.

I'm sure there will be more info as we get nearer to the event, but that's it for now.
Hope to see you all there!

Project 365 Day 147

Although I was in Carson City attending Donna Jean's event, I drove back into town today to attend a live simulcast of a teaching by my favorite Bible teacher, Beth Moore. It was inspiring and Megan and I went together and that always means a lot to me. If you've never done one of her Bible studies, they are great ones to consider. Megan and I are also attending her study on the book of Esther on Monday nights.

Change is in the Air!

Hello Everyone--This message is to let all of you know about a change in my classes. Beginning next month my Calendar Class and my evening card class will be relocating. I'm not sure where yet. For all of my classes (except for the daytime card class held at Scrapper's Paradise) you will now sign up with me and pay me directly. I will be sending out an email announcing the new location in the next week or so.
I would also like to give you an opportunity to save money on my upcoming classes. It is going to be more important than ever for me to be able to get my message out----so----If you all will help me get the word out, I will make it worth your while! Pass my business email (notime2scrapbook@yahoo.com) to any and all of your friends that might be interested in my kits or classes and tell them to mention your name and email address in their message when they contact me and you will earn a $2 class discount for each and every name that contacts me to be added to my ever growing list. Also don't forget that you earn an entry into a monthly drawing for a free kit for every comment you leave on my blog.
Thanks everyone. I hope you will all hang with me during these changes and I look forward to seeing you all real soon---Tonna
P.S.----Watch for the info on the next big scrapbook yard sale. I'll be telling you all about it on Monday!
Tonna

Project 365 Day 146

Today I spent the day in Carson City scrapping at Donna Jean's wonderful store. My picture for today is a sneak peak of the Sunshine Mini Album I am making (Yes Stacey, I'm finally getting to it!). It is going to be offered as a class when it's finished. Only four spots will be available. Don't you love the colors?

Project 365 Day 145

Today's picture for my project is of my sad little basket of cards.

Project 365 Day 144

Third Wednesday of the month means daytime card class at Scrapper's Paradise and that's what I did today. I had a nice large class today with some new gals that I had not had in class before. I hope you all liked your cards and more importantly, had fun! This is one of the cards we made.

Project 365 Day 143

Second Tuesday of the month means Calendar Class. I had a wonderful turnout at class tonight and I worked them very hard cutting out and making hot air balloons to soar across the pages of our layout. The calendar showcased the cute little owl that I posted a picture of in an earlier post and I have posted a picture of the card we made as my picture for today. Cute paper, huh?

Project 365 Day 142

Today, Monday, is Matilda's actual birthday. At her pre-school when someone has a birthday the class makes cupcakes. Later in the afternoon a parent brings a favorite book which they read to the class while they eat up the birthday cupcakes. The book is then donated to the school. Pretty cool. Matilda LOVES the story of Ferdinand the Bull so that book was chosen. I got to go with Tracy for the book reading and I took this picture of Matilda as everyone sang Happy Birthday to her. She passed a hurdle this year. Until this year, every time the group gathers to sing to her, she gets so embarrassed by the attention that she begins to cry. She made it through without tears this year at both the party and at school. As you can see, she was still very shy about it---but no tears.

Project 365 Day 141

Today our church held it's very first baptism. We met at Rock Park in Sparks and four of our members were baptised in the Truckee River. Some of you have asked about Herman and his heart surgery and I'm thrilled to report that he is doing fine. I arrived there and was surprised and overjoyed to see Herman there to attend the baptism! He just had quadruple bypass surgery on Thursday and he was back with us on Sunday afternoon! What a trooper! We are so glad that he came through the surgery alright. We were told that it was much more serious than anyone let on and that the doctors after being very worried about the outcome and were thrilled and amazed at how well the surgery went. Praise God! I've included a couple of pictures here. They gave him a heart shaped pillow that he has to hug to himself if he has to cough or sneeze, so in one you will see him with his "new heart."

After the baptism, rehearsal and church service I was able to quickly run by and take Matilda her birthday present. The party was over and she had already had a bath and was in her jammies, but I've included a picture of her wearing her new red and white tutu.

Project 365 Day 140

Super busy day today! I began by going to Scrapper's Paradise for a class to make an adorable little lunch box. It was a splurge for me, but I just had to make it! Next I ran back home to teach the little class on my Tahoe Paper Bag Album. I had three of you join me here in my home and I really hope you had a good time. I will be doing more of these little classes so keep your eyes on the blog for notification. When the class was over I got a bit of time to visit with a sweet friend and then it was off to Walmart to buy red things for my grand daughter. Her fourth birthday party is tomorrow and when asked what kind of birthday party she wanted, she announced emphatically that she wanted a red one. Her further instructions were that she wanted red presents, wrapped in red paper with red and white bows. Too funny! My picture for today is of my red gift. I filled a red plastic tote with red things and then made a red and white tutu which topped the whole thing like a giant bow. Hope she likes it!

Project 365 Day 139

Okay Girls--I'm way overdue to get the posts on for my project 365---I know! I've just been so busy! Finally a chance to breathe, so it's catch up time! Today----Friday---was spent preparing for my upcoming Calendar Class. On Tuesday we will be doing our September calendar pages and so I decided to post a picture of last year's September calendar page as my picture for today. I know----Ho Hum!

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Project 365 Day 138

Today's picture is of one of my church members named Herman. He is part of our worship team and we are so blessed to have him. He really loves the Lord and has the sweetest spirit. Herman writes wonderful Christian songs in his cool folk style. He recently had a heart attack and today is having open heart surgery. Please join me, if you will, in sending up prayers for him. All of us at church want him back with us--healthy and strong.

Project 365 Day 137

Grandparents Day is approaching and so for my picture for today I thought I'd post one of the cards I did for that holiday in last month's card class. The inside reads--"but they're goodies!"

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Project 365 Day 136

The whole day has been spent scrapping. I have so much to prepare for in the next week! Crossing my fingers that I will be ready in time. I hate it when my classes all fall on the same week. As I said, scrapping is all I did and so my picture is of a sneak peek---a little corner---of what the page layout for my Calendar Class will have in store. Be ready to soar to the heavens girls!

Project 365 Day 136

Today is Labor Day and the final day of the Rib Cook Off. I went there this afternoon with Megan and Mike. I took my camera, but did not take a single picture. BAD!!!

Since I don't have pictures of mouthwatering ribs to share, I am instead posting a picture of another two page layout available for sale. It reads Special Moments on the tags and includes a few extra embellishments to be added wherever you like. The layout uses cork paper in the design. I really like the texture the paper adds. There is only the one and it is available for only $5.

Project 365 Day 135

On Sunday, our final day, we gathered together for Pastor Jim to give us a devotional before leaving. I love these people and feel so blessed to have found this church and to have become a part of their church family!

Project 365 Day 134

The next day we were up bright and early for an outdoor breakfast. There's just something so special about eating and cooking outdoors.

In addition to their instruments, the guys brought a generator, their amps and microphones which they set up on carpets in a flat clearing. We set up all the chairs we had and the band played on and on through the afternoon. Campers from all around came to sit and listen. I'm so proud of our church worship team!

That night, with even more of us there, we once again gathered around the fire to sing and enjoy each others company.

Project 365 Day 133

Friday I left town and headed to Stampede just outside of town for our first church campout. It turned out great! We had super weather and enjoyed each other so much. That first evening as we were all cooking up some dinner a mama deer came right into the campsite to get some treats of potato skins from Lori. I just love deer. She had two babies who were not so brave. They stayed close up among the trees, but did allow me close enough to get a picture. When they did move away from me, they hopped just like Bambi. It was so sweet!

The guys brought there guitars and later that night we gathered around the campfire to sing songs and, of course, make Smores.

Before tucking ourselves in for the night many of us took a walk away from the campground and down by the lake where there were no lights to interfere. Once there, we turned of our flashlights and gazed at all the beautiful stars. It was beautiful! We could see the Milky Way so clearly, and the Big Dipper. I even saw three shooting stars. When I see how beautiful nature is, I am so excited and thrilled to see what my God has in store for us in heaven. Can you imagine?

Project 365 Day 132

I'm leaving in a bit to go camping with my church for a couple of days. I will post pics when I return since I will be away from my computer. Should be fun. I'm looking forward to it.

Project 365---Day 130

For my picture today I have chosen a picture of a completed layout that I wish to sell. I love this striking combination of greens and browns, but just have no photos to match the page. The embellishments on the page are from a sheet of chipboard stickers. There are a few of them left and I am including those as well. The price for this completed 2 page layout is $10 and there is only one available. Just contact me if you are interested.
