The Chicken Coop

I am a paper crafter. I've been playing with paper, and cutting and pasting for many years now and I still just love it. I teach classes each month and would love to have you.
You can find me at MyRedHen.blogspot.com and on Pinterest
or email me at MyRedHen4@yahoo.com
I'd love to hear from you.
Every now and then I have some cards or little treats available for sale that may be seen here.
My blog also contains my personal posts. Ignore them if you like, but you may get a kick out of them. Maybe my girls will read them one day and get insights into the inner workings of an old woman's brain....Scary Thought!
There is a list of labels on the right side of the blog, so you can click there to go to only the posts that you are interested in. That will allow you to skip the personal posts and any items for sale if you wish. No matter which way you choose, I hope will enjoy my little blog and visit often.

Project 365 Day 186

Went to see the movie Secratariat today with a friend. Very inspiring. I love horses and always love movies about them. At one time in my distant past I owned one named Red which was what they actually called Secratariat. My guy was half Arabian and half Quarter Horse. He even looked a lot like Secratariat. He was incredible and proud and riding him gave me some of the freest and most joyous times of my life. I was even good at it!

Project 365 Day 185

Today I accomplished several errands--all things that I had been putting off. Stopped by the Save Mart pharmacy AGAIN to check and see if my prescription had been okayed---It was not. My pain is getting worse every day. For the last few days it has been shooting down my right leg on a consistent basis. It hurts! I feel like I'd like to chop my leg right off! Anyway, I thought this display at the market was so clever. All made with soda 12 pack boxes right down to the green stem on the pumpkin. How clever!

Project 365 Day 184

Monday night right now means attending Bible study along with Megan. Tonight we met beforehand at In and Out Burger to have dinner together. Someone at her work went there for lunch and just hearing about it made her crave it for dinner.

Project 365 Day 176-183

Okay I'm disappointed in myself for this, but I'm giving myself a week long break from my Project. Too much for me to handle this week and no pictures to show for it. I'll pick back up with my Monday.

Project 365 Day 175

Just Sayin'

What happens at scrapbook camp stays at scrapbook camp-----Just sayin' ladies.

Project 365 Day 174

Very slow start today. Where's my MoJo?! I had a layout planned to make for my friend Cheryl, and I had a picture of the basic way I wanted to do it, so I began there. Once that was completed, I decorated my hat for my group's plans for crazy hat night tomorrow night, and then finally-----I got out my Sunshine Book. I began trying to design this little book last summer---as in summer 2009. Every time I got it out, I just drew a blank----Nothing! Eventually, frustrated, I would just put it away. A a recent crop I finally managed to get the all of the pages at least covered in paper and put into the order I wanted them. At about 1am---victory at last! Here is an overall picture of my little Sunshine Book. I plan to add some a few ribbons to the ring when I get home, and few more buttons, bling etc, but it is basically done. I had planned for there to be enough supplies for eight of these, but I added extra pages so this class will be for only four people. Two of the spots are already spoken for, so there are only two available spots. The price of the class is $28. If you have some great little pics from your summertime fun, this might be the perfect place to display them. Contact me directly if you are interested. The date for the class will be chosen when I can pick a date that works for everyone. Probably on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Project 365 Day 173

Yard sale over, wedding place cards completed, and items for bazaar completed and delivered. At last I left for camp. I've had way too much going on lately, so I was unprepared and flustered by the time I left, but I made it. Here we are for the first night of Scrapper's Paradise Camp. I'm not doing much besides staring off into space and performing my cashier duties. Crossing my fingers that creative energy will strike me like a lightening bolt tomorrow.

Project 365 Day 172

My picture for today is a copy of the flier for the Holiday Craft Faire at St Paul's United Methodist Church. Their annual event is being held on Saturday and I wanted to remind you all to attend. I am unable to be there this year, but a friend of mine is taking my "stuff" and manning my table for me. If you are able be sure and stop by. I'm sure you can pick up some great things for the holidays and maybe a little something for your tummy from the bake sale. They are even serving pulled pork sandwiches for lunch----mmmm,

Project 365 Day 171

Today's picture is actually a cheater picture since I didn't actually take the picture today, but with the two gaps left by my life crises, I figure a cheater picture can't make it any worse. I took this picture at a stamp store while I was in Sacramento. Tracey and I saw this class sample for an altered book made from a cake mix box and we just had to snap a photo of it to show our friend Julie. What a great place for cake recipes. I tell you, I just can't believe what people will think of!

Project 365 Day 170

I have been trying today to finish a few little things I plan to offer for sale at a bazaar this weekend. I put the finishing touches on these spooky test tubes. Each glass tube is filled with chocolate covered sunflower seeds and creepy bats fly out of the corked tops on curly black wire. Each one id finished off with a colorful ribbon and a "Happy Halloween" tag. They will be for sale for $5 each. If any of you are interested in one, just let me know and I will hold on to one for you.

Winner! Winner!

Congratulations to Casey who won a gift certificate to one of my classes at the McQueen crop this weekend! I was unable to attend, but added a little something to their raffle prizes to support the cause. Yeah Casey! I wonder where she will use her certificate---Calendar Class I bet. There is another crop coming up in January which I do plan to attend. I hope I will see lots of you there! We'll have wonderful holiday photos to scrap by then----Oh my goodness! That just made me think about how close Christmas is getting. Very scary thought!

Project 365 Day 169----New Class

Today's picture is the unveiling of an upcoming class. If you were at the yard sale you got the first look and the first chance to sign up---even with a $5 discount. This is one of the ideas I brought back with me from Creative Escape and I love it. It is a tent style album that I plan to keep on my desk where I can see it all the time. It is made very sturdy with the use of Bazzill Book Board to make the base and is made SO cute with the use of this wonderful line of paper from October Afternoon. The title on the tag which can be pulled out of the little pocket on the front reads "Journey of My Heart." I plan to fill mine with pictures of the things most dear to me and flip the pages to something to keep my heart smiling while I work. It would be great to sit on your desk at work if you have one and would also be a wonderful gift. When we complete it in class, the book will have ten pages, but more can be added easily. Four of the pages are plain and the rest are embellished with an assortment of things that just make me feel warm and fuzzy. During the course of the class you will use chipboard, half pearls, fabric, ribbon, flowers, brads, netting, giant ric rac, felt, floss, buttons, baker's twine and more. You will learn to make, not one, but two cool flowers. You will want to make them again and again to embellish other books and pages. Part of the book has lines pages where you can journal about what pulls your heart strings and there's an envelope where you can tuck away some special treasures. I have shown you some views of parts of the book here and I hope you like it as much as I do. I expect this class to take at least three hours and I am tentatively planning it for October 23rd or 24th if a weekend time is needed or the night of the 25th, 27th, or 28th if I decide to go with an evening class. The location has not yet been decided for sure. The class is $45, includes all supplies and there are quite a lot of them. I just loved playing with all the different textures and techniques. Contact me at notime2scrapbook@yahoo.com to sign up and let me know which time works best for you. I'm excited for these new classes I will be offering. I've already taken the pictures of another which will be offered in November. I'll just say that it's a super cute gift idea. I already know exactly what I'm doing with mine-----Keep checking! There's more to come!

Project 365 Day 168----Addendum

Addendum

Okay girls---Having labeled my crazy friend Tracey a "Red Neck," I must now officially label myself a complete and total "Country Bumpkin." Luxury Tonna! You can't be trusted with luxury!

I brought bubble bath along on my trip to enjoy. I can't take a bath at home--I only have a shower, so this was to be a treat. She had told me that it was a jacuzzi tub, so even better. Well, last night while Tracey was gone to reunion night one, I ran my tub and added my bubbles but could not for the life of me figure out how to turn on the jacuzzi. Oh well, still very relaxing and enjoyable. Afterward I discovered the controls to turn on the jacuzzi outside the bathroom door. So----tonight I plan to get the whole experience right? Well--I begin running the water for my bath and add my bubbles. It didn't seem to be making very many bubbles, so I added another few healthy squirts to make sure I would have bubbles for my experience. Then I turn on the jacuzzi and climb in the tub. Well girls, just in case you are as uninformed as I am----when you put bubbles in a jacuzzi, you get LOTS OF BUBBLES! I saw the bubbles begin to explode, but the operating switch is outside the bathroom door, so I just lean back close my eyes and decide to relax and enjoy it. Girls, by the time I sat up in that tub, the bubbles LITERALLY came up to my chin! I wish Tracey had been here to take a picture. I could easily have ducked and hidden myself completely, head and all. I emerged from the tub looking remarkably like the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man and took these photos to tell on myself. I started cracking up here in the room all by myself when I realized that when Tracey comes back later tonight and I am sound asleep, she will go into the bathroom and I guarantee there will STILL be a tub full of bubbles to greet her. I just may be awakened by some loud laughter. They may just have to close this room down for repairs when we leave while they try and de-bubble the place. Oh my---Oh my....

Oh and one more thing---You may soon be seeing some scurrilous posts to my blog from Tracey and her girlfriend DJ. Don't believe a word of it. NONE! They lie---It's a conspiracy!

Project 365 Day 167---I'm Back

Okay girls---I've got to lift my head and keep on going. I'm not even going to try and fill in the blanks that I've left in my Project 365. Just imagine pictures of tear stained cheeks and blood shot eyes. That's about all I would have had to offer. Luckily I have a great circle of friends and one of them has done much this weekend to pull me through.

Tracey was headed to Sacramento for the weekend to attend her 20th high school reunion. She said she had nice accommodations booked and asked if I would like to go along. I said yes and off we went. Now girls----I can't say as I would have described these accommodations as "nice." I guess she's a bit more "red neck" than I realized!

Okay----Just kiddin'. Can you tell that she gave me my smile back this weekend? We actually had a very nice room at the Best Western, but this luxurious piece of machinery is actually parked in the parking lot of the hotel. Pretty snazzy huh? Anyway, being away from home has made it easier for me to follow my doctor's orders and even provided me with a whirlpool bathtub in which to take the warm baths she ordered me to take. Time to go take one now and then must rub a bunch of lotion on myself---also the doctor's orders. I think that part would be so much more effective if done by some caring masculine hands----or at least a masseuse right? I should be cleared to get back to work later this next week, so I'll let you all know soon about the new class plans.

and one more thing.......Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who care for me and offer your unending support. I can't begin to tell you how much it means to me!

I'm here, but quiet

Things are very bleak for me right now. I'm unable to be creative and have nothing cute, happy, or uplifting to say, so I hope you all will forgive me. I'll catch up when I can handle it.
