The Chicken Coop

I am a paper crafter. I've been playing with paper, and cutting and pasting for many years now and I still just love it. I teach classes each month and would love to have you.
You can find me at MyRedHen.blogspot.com and on Pinterest
or email me at MyRedHen4@yahoo.com
I'd love to hear from you.
Every now and then I have some cards or little treats available for sale that may be seen here.
My blog also contains my personal posts. Ignore them if you like, but you may get a kick out of them. Maybe my girls will read them one day and get insights into the inner workings of an old woman's brain....Scary Thought!
There is a list of labels on the right side of the blog, so you can click there to go to only the posts that you are interested in. That will allow you to skip the personal posts and any items for sale if you wish. No matter which way you choose, I hope will enjoy my little blog and visit often.

Pop Goes the Weasel

 Hi All

Today us National Popcorn Day!

It was my intention to post a cute card with a popcorn theme but it's not going to happen today.

I'm still trying to get my life back in order from the several things that have hit me hard already in this first two weeks of the year.

If you're up for a Popcorn celebration, you could head to the movies. Century theaters are offering 50% off on 🍿 Popcorn and at the price of snacks at the theater, that's a good savings

I myself will spend the day here at home catching up but when I finally pause with some hand work this evening I will put a movie on TV and open up a bag of Angie's Boom Chicka Pop and toast the day.

March Crop

The next two day crop is coming up on March 11th and 12th.

Here's a link to the flyer:

Hope to see you there.

It's 2023

Well it was to be my goal to pay attention to my blog this year and I find myself stuck in a hotel room with not much to do, so it seems like a good time to start.

I woke up New Year's Eve morning with an ugly cold and the power, which is still not restored, went of that day.  I took it as long as I could and then bailed. I checked into a hotel yesterday. The latest estimate for power is tonight but we'll see. They've changed it many times.

I look back and find that January 1st is Commitment Day and this first week of the year is Resolution Week. So I will commit to being a better blogger and resolutely try to keep it up. We'll see how it goes.

January 2nd through the 8th is "Someday We'll Laugh About This Week" What I've been going through this week has not seemed very funny but I think I may be able to look back and find something to laugh about. Maybe not this week though.

My plan is to add something funny, tell a story, report on the many crazy holidays, or incorporate my card and craft making into the blog this year so I hope you'll keep checking in and comment. I'd love for you to interact with me.

To Infinity and Beyond!

Hello again everyone

I was buzzing around the internet and discovered that we are in the middle of World Space Week, October 4th thru the 10th. I had no idea!

World Space Week is an annual holiday observed from October 4 to 10 in over 95 nations throughout the world. It is officially defined as "an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition".

The theme they chose this year is "Women in Space" so hooray for us.

Funny thing is, I had been working on a series of space themed cards so I took part in my own way.. Here's a quick shot of what I was up to.

I plan on offering a class with an adventure theme and when I do I will be walking you through making a couple of others. In that class we will lift off into space, delve into the sea

World Smile Day

Since 1999 the first Friday in October has been designated as World Smile Day which aims to spread the message of smiles and friendliness to the world.

I'm not feeling tip top today but I can sure muster a Smile. No one may see it except the puppies I'm watching but they'll enjoy it. I'll smile double while I'm out and about tomorrow.

Happy Smile Day to all of you!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

 Today is Love People Day!!

I'm sure there's someone in your life who could really use a little reminder of how much they are loved and while we're at it let's do a little something loving for those that we may come in contact with today. Pay for the persons meal behind us in line at the drive up or the purchase of the one behind us in the check out line. Add a extra good tip to our waitress after our meal while eating out. Or in smaller ways just a smile, a thank you, or holding a door are little ways we can just send out a bit of love to those around us.

As card makers we have another way to spread a little love. A handmade card showing up in a mailbox among the bills and junk mail never fails to bring a boost.

Just as a reminder, in just a few days on Saturday our own very special holiday is coming. It's World Card Making Day!! What a perfect time to get together with a friend and do some cutting and pasting while making some awesome cards. Or just a great excuse to get out all those supplies at home on your own and play ALL DAY!!

I'll share a card or two that I make and I'd love to see the creations you come up with on your own or with friends so please share in the comments.

Have a great day all, and get out there and spread some love. ❤

National Queso Day

Today apparently is National Queso Day. I am not a fan of this gooey, spicy stuff but I know I'm in the minority.

I came across this offer for those of you who love the stuff.

Cheesy, creamy, ooey, gooey, goodness...Mouth watering yet? In celebration of National Queso Day, we are gifting our loyal guests a FREE REGULAR Chips and Queso with a Regular Entrée purchase!

Now while I don't care for the queso, I LOVE Costa Vida. Their sweet pork is to die for so I may use this an excuse to visit.

Maybe I'll see you there queso fans!!
