The Chicken Coop

I am a paper crafter. I've been playing with paper, and cutting and pasting for many years now and I still just love it. I teach classes each month and would love to have you.
You can find me at MyRedHen.blogspot.com and on Pinterest
or email me at MyRedHen4@yahoo.com
I'd love to hear from you.
Every now and then I have some cards or little treats available for sale that may be seen here.
My blog also contains my personal posts. Ignore them if you like, but you may get a kick out of them. Maybe my girls will read them one day and get insights into the inner workings of an old woman's brain....Scary Thought!
There is a list of labels on the right side of the blog, so you can click there to go to only the posts that you are interested in. That will allow you to skip the personal posts and any items for sale if you wish. No matter which way you choose, I hope will enjoy my little blog and visit often.

At Last!

I came by my house today to pick up some things I needed and I discovered that the work of removing the tree in my backyard was finally completed. I'm going to miss it even though they left the stump with these interesting shelves on which I plan to put some potted plants in the spring.

Feed the Birds

For the past month I've been spending nearly all of my time staying with my friend Margarett and her husband at their home in Golden Valley. Every day they feed the birds in their backyard as well as some cute little bunnies. I took these pictures of the quail as they gobbled up the food. There were dozens of them!

And the work continues...

Came home to find another piece of the tree hanging precariously over my yard.

Cupcake Mining

Took Matilda to the Kid's Discovery Museum today for Cupcake Mining. It was a brief class to demonstrate mining. They had actual core samples there to show the kids and demonstrated how that worked to the kids by having them drill their own core samples in a cupcake with plastic straws. We ended up spending 4 hours at the museum and M had a great time. I brought a book along and I just allowed her to play and play. I love the picture of her that I was able to capture. A great picture of childlike wonder!

Okay--the way the work was left this time looks a little precarious to me!

The tree continues to disappear a bit at a time. I haven't been home much of the time, but I don't seem to miss much. I think the fellow that's doing the work must be stopping by about once a week or so to do just a bit of work.

My Tree

The ladder goes up against the tree. Looks like more of my tree is going to be disappearing today.

Valentine Cookies

In the past I used to make a layout to enter Page Maps monthly sketch challenge. Don't know why I stopped, but I'm going to try and do it again. It gives me a little creative boost, so it's a good thing. Here I've shown the layout they posted for the challenge and my version. It only calls for the one 12X12, but I've shown you my full double page layout as well. It was fun to do. We'll see how they like it.

Death of a Tree

There is a tree in my yard. They have been saying since I moved in that it is not well and will have to come down. Sick or not, I loved having it there. Now the time has come that my landlord has hired the team to come and take it down. They have been pruning other surrounding trees of dead branches as well. What a process and what a mess! This weekend the area in my flower beds surrounding the tree was piled with big chunks of the tree and my windmill and my fountain have disappeared, being moved out of the way. Today I came home to this giant pile, so little by little the tree is going away. I guess this week they'll probably be taking down the rest of it. When spring comes, I'm hoping that the things I've planted around the trees will have survived the onslaught and will bloom for me. I love my little yard during the Spring and Summer months especially, but I'm sure going to miss my tree.
